There are a wide range of boats that people use for sailing but they all use the same principles so once you know how to sail one boat it is relatively easy to transfer those skills onto any other.
Most courses follow the guidelines established by the Royal Yachting Association. There are courses specially for children and 5 different levels for adults. Even after the beginners level course one can sail confidently and safely in easy conditions.
A beginner's 2 day course will cost around £100.
